  • Sports legend Cindy McCoy was born in 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She faced a difficult youth that was marred by instances of abuse and eventual parental abandonment. Cindy overcame these personal struggles by turning to Roll
er Games, which were at the height of popularity during the 1960s. During this tumultuous time in American history, the Roller Games were the biggest indoor spectator sport in the country, and the sport's popularity spread around the world. While still a teenager, Cindy was to become the sweetheart of this captivating sport. At just 5'-6" with a slim figure, Cindy was an attractive young woman, the "baby" of the roller team, who looked more like a model than the typical participant of the Roller Games. Cindy actually worked as a model of swimwear and sports clothes but ultimately chose the excitement of the Roller Games over a career as a model. Although many people claimed Roller Games were too rough for women, it didn't stop Cindy McCoy, the young rookie, from giving everything she had to the sport she loved. CIndy McCoy started her skating career at 14 years old. Within a year, she became a professional skater, travelling on an international team. Cindy quickly became a celebrity in Australia and Australian Roller Games fans voted her their Roller Queen. Cindy McCoy was just 16 when the honor was bestowed upon her and it was one that was never repeated, even nearly 50 years later. Today, Cindy is happily married and lives in Colorado. She has two adult children, one step child and three beautiful grandchildren. Cindy is a graduate of Metropolitan State College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Australian Roller Games fans still remember Cindy McCoy, their Roller Queen, and Cindy still carries a warm spot in her heart for all of the fans, who loved her, supported her and became a surrogate family to her. 15years old. This has never been or will never be repeated.
