Alexandre Bodart Pinto has been bound to a wheelchair since the age of 16, but this has not stopped him from travelling around the world. Faced with difficulties in infrastructure, culture, and availability of services, Pinto launc
hed a foundation to help close the knowledge gap, and inform people with disabilities about the possibilities available to them. Recognizing that others in a similar situation would approach him lamenting the lack of accessibility necessary for them to have for carefree travel he resolved to do something about the situation. Foundation WaW (Wheeling Around the World) serves his vision is to be able to give persons with disabilities the access and knowledge necessary to facilitate travel. Starting from Belgium but working his way slowly onto the global scene Pinto hopes to manage a foundation that will in the future and through a community to provide the holidays that his peers have wanted. Launching the charitable foundation Wheeling Around the World in March, Pinto has established an online community at fondationwaw.org which can only grow. For its first launch event Pinto and the renowned journalist and French television presenter, Nikos Aliagas formally announce his patronage of the foundation and his hope to be able to help accsibility for all in tourism. "Life is beautiful, and Alexandre serves as an example to us all" said Aliagas in his inaugural remarks, openly emotional about the difficulties encountered by Pinto.
